We find ourselves amidst the first days of spring and we are welcomed by none other than snow. Snowstorms across Canada have continued to dust our landscapes white while many of us dream of fresh flowers, bike rides, and summer dresses. We are very fortunate to always have days filled with sunshine, making long winters a little more bearable! Thunder Bay is apparently the sunniest city in eastern Canada with an average of 2167.7 hours of bright sunshine each year.
So, what is a great way to take advantage of this bright winter climate? Snowshoeing of course. I am lucky enough to live near fields, woods, and a river. This makes for excellent trails to be found in my own backyard. We followed deer tracks, enjoyed the sunshine, and had a great workout too. Even my 80 year old grandmother joined proving that adventure can be found at all ages and at all times. Sometimes, you just need to take advantage of your surroundings!
